India Commits to Further Support Cambodian National Police Training and Material Assistance

Phnom Penh: In a significant development, the Indian Ambassador to Cambodia, DR Devyani Khobragade, has reaffirmed India's commitment to continue supporting the training of the Cambodian National Police and to provide additional material assistance to the Ministry of Interior.

This commitment was voiced during a courtesy visit and work discussion led by Ambassador Khobragade with Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, on the morning of Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Ministry of Interior.

The Minister of Interior lauded the robust cooperation between the Ministry and the Government of India, expressing profound thanks for India's ongoing support in training through the provision of scholarships for Cambodian police officers. These opportunities enable officers to pursue short-term studies in various disciplines in India, enhancing their skills and capabilities.

Ambassador Khobragade reiterated India's dedication to bolster law enforcement ties and collaboration with the Ministry of Interior by continuing to offer training and assistance to officers of the Cambodian National Police.

Additionally, Ambassador Khobragade extended her congratulations to Sar Sokha on his recent appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, commending the Ministry's efforts in effectively combating various forms of crime, including transnational crime. This, she noted, plays a crucial role in boosting investor and tourist confidence in Cambodia.
